The Powiat Krakowski is a powiat (district) in the Polish Voivodeship Lesser Poland with the district capital Krakow . It has around 250,000 inhabitants on an area of ​​1229.62 km².

The powiat was built on January 1, 1999 as part of the second Polish municipal reform.

geography

The Powiat Krakowski encloses the independent city of Krakow in the west and north and is one of the most densely populated districts in Lesser Poland. Neighboring powiate in the north are the districts of Olkusz and Miechów , in the east Proszowice and Bochnia , in the south Wieliczka , the independent city of Krakow and Myślenice and in the west Wadowice and Chrzanów .
