In medicine, the body region preferred by a certain disease process is referred to as the predilection point (predilection = preference ).

The predilection sites for skin changes in atopic eczema (neurodermatitis) are the elbows and squats and those of acne vulgaris on the face, chest and back.

In dentistry , the following risk areas with regard to the development of caries are to be mentioned: tooth fissure , interdental surface ( approximal ), tooth neck , foramen caecum dentis ( blind hole inside ( palatal ) on the upper incisors) and filling and crown margins .
