Prussia Dellbrück was a sports club from Cologne . The first soccer team reached the semi-finals of the German championship in 1950. In 1957 the club merged with SC Rapid Cologne to form SC Viktoria Cologne , which was dissolved in 2010. In the same year the FC Viktoria Köln was founded.

history

On April 6, 1912, the FK Preußen Dellbrück was founded in Dellbrück , which was renamed FV 1912 Dellbrück in January 1919 and SC Preußen Dellbrück in 1926 . Only in the 1931/32 season did the Prussians play in the top division. After the Second World War , the great times of the Dellbrücker began. As third in the Middle Rhine Championship, they qualified in 1947 for the Oberliga West. A dramatic relegation battle followed.

The Prussians ended the 1947/48 season tied with TSG Vohwinkel 80 . The playoff ended 1-1 after extra time. The replay ended goalless after extra time. No goals were scored in the third game either, but overtime was waived due to the heat. The Wuppertal finally won the fourth game 1-0, so that the Prussians had to relegate. With the relegation they also said goodbye to their long-term home ground "Et Höffge".

In the following 1948/49 season, the Prussians were runner-up in the Rheinbezirksliga behind Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Since the league was expanded from 13 to 16 clubs, the Dellbrücker took part in a promotion round, where they were able to prevail against SpVgg Herten and Fortuna Düsseldorf and returned to the Oberliga West. They became the sensation team of the 1949/50 league season . On the last Bundesliga matchday, the Prussians won 4-1 against Rhenania Würselen, while their rivals 1. FC Köln lost 3-2 at Alemannia Aachen .

Dellbrück was runner-up and qualified for the German championship . A 1-0 win over SSV Reutlingen 05 after extra time was followed by a 2-1 win over defending champions VfR Mannheim in the quarter-finals . The semi-final game against Kickers Offenbach in Stuttgart's Neckarstadion ended goalless. In the replay in the Oberhausen Niederrheinstadion , the Hessians prevailed 3-0.

The Dellbrücker reached their sporty zenith. In the following years, the team slipped into mid-table. In the 1954/55 season , Heinz Lorenz was tied with Felix Gerritzen from Preußen Münster, top scorer in the Oberliga West. In the mid-1950s, the Prussians were in danger of relegation. As a result of the falling audience figures, the main arena Müngersdorfer Stadion became too expensive. On July 10, 1957, Prussia Dellbrück and SC Rapid Köln merged to form SC Viktoria Köln . The former "Et Höffge" venue became a Belgian barracks and from 2006 a housing estate. The path to this settlement was named Preußen-Dellbrück-Weg in memory of the association on October 22, 2006 .

Unveiling of the plaque commemorating participation in the German championship in 1950

The street sign and a commemorative plaque for the old Preußenplatz were ceremoniously unveiled by the board member Burkhard von der Mühlen from GAG Immobilien AG and two friends of the "Old Prussians" Cilly Mertel and Willi Hölzgen. On June 6, 2010, 60 years after taking part in the German soccer championship , the “Old Prussians” put up the photo opposite as a poster at the entrance to the settlement.

In 2012, 100 years after it was founded, a large group of friends organized several events and published a small commemorative publication with DVD about the development and work of the Prussians. On April 6, the day it was founded, a memorial took place at the cemeteries in Cologne-Holweide and -Dellbrück. On May 31st, the photo exhibition “100 Years of Preußen Dellbrück” with pictures from the collection of Uli Herhaus opened in the Dellbrücker Volksbank, branch of the Kölner Bank. The keynote speakers were the mayor of the city of Cologne, Hans-Werner Bartsch, and the chairman of the Dellbrück citizens' association Lothar Fricke.
