Prince Paul (born April 2, 1967 in New York City , New York , real name Paul Huston ) is an American DJ and hip-hop producer. He was best known for his unorthodox humor. With his unusual samples and his playful humor, Prince Paul was involved in shaping alternative hip-hop .

Life

Prince Paul began his career as a member of Stetsasonic . He produced De La Soul's debut album Three Feet High and Rising in 1989 . On this album he introduced the skit , which can be found on almost all hip-hop albums today. After two more albums with De La Soul, he turned to his own projects. He released the solo album Psychoanalysis: What is It? and the hip-hop opera A Prince Among Thieves , in which Big Daddy Kane and Everlast appeared, among others . Together with Frukwan (Stetsasonic), Too Poetic ( Brothers Grimm ) and RZA ( Wu-Tang Clan ) he formed the horrorcore group Gravediggaz .

Together with jazz producer Teo Macero , he produced the solo debut Mistaken Identity by guitarist Vernon Reid in 1995 . Together with Dan the Automator he formed the Handsome Boy Modeling School , on their album So .. How's Your Girl? Performed, among others, Sean Lennon and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien .

Together with Chuck D , Ice-T , the Beatnuts , Wordsworth and others, he published Politics of the Business in 2003 . He wanted to make fun of the monotonous beats of the hip-hop chart at the time, but the album didn't go down well with the fans. Together with Wordsworth he produced a track for the soundtrack of the SpongeBob movie that same year .

In his most recent publications he has returned to the style of his earlier works. On Itstrumental he uses skits about his depressions that are probably there . The album The Art of Picking Up Women by the imaginary rock band The Dix combines misogyny and the typical boasting of rap with the music style of the rhythm 'n' blues of the 1960s.
