The Project Syndicate is an international non-profit organization based in Prague , which, according to its own information, currently brings together over 430 newspapers and magazines from 150 countries with a total circulation of almost 70 million copies.

purpose

The syndicate annually disseminates hundreds of comments worldwide, written by authoritative journalists, scholars, politicians and political activists. It translates the English texts into the following 13 languages: Arabic , Chinese , German , French , Hindi , Indonesian , Italian , Kazakh , Dutch , Portuguese , Russian , Spanish and Czech . Financially weak newspapers in developing countries receive these services free of charge.

financing

The syndicate is financed by contributions from its members in the industrialized countries and private donations from foundations, including the Open Society Institute of George Soros . In Germany u. a. the Zeit-Stiftung Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius the work of the organization.
