The ProMinent GmbH is a global German group of companies with headquarters in Heidelberg . It produces components and systems for the dosing of liquids, the measurement and control technology required for this, as well as water treatment systems.

history

The company was founded in 1960 by Viktor Dulger in Heidelberg as "Chemie & Filter GmbH". ProMinent GmbH has been family-owned since it was founded and is currently run by the founder's sons, Andreas and Rainer Dulger .

The company became known for the development of the world's first electronic magnetic metering pump, which was able to precisely and inexpensively meter the smallest amounts of liquid for the chemical, paper and beverage industries. The company is now the world market leader in this product.

The company name ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH , which was introduced in 1987, was derived from the sales name for the dosing pump ("ProMinent electronic") . In 2014 the company was renamed ProMinent GmbH .

The company employs a total of around 2500 people, has 51 of its own subsidiaries and agencies and is therefore present in over 100 countries worldwide. The company began to expand internationally in the 1970s. In 1971 a branch was established in Switzerland, in 1976 the first production facility was set up in the USA and in 1980 the first branch in Asia was founded in Singapore.

Production facilities in Malta, Hungary and China were added in the early 1990s. To better structure the product portfolio, in 2003 the business areas were divided into “Chemical Fluid Handling” and “Water Treatment Solutions”. The latter was outsourced in 2006 as an independent subsidiary, ProMaqua GmbH, and returned in 2013. The subsidiary will continue to operate as ProMinent Deutschland GmbH and will take over sales activities for Germany.

In the 1996 by Hermann Simon published book The Hidden Champions ( German  The secret winner ) will ProMinent one of the "hidden champions" mentioned as in Europe.

Product fields and business areas

In addition to the metering pumps that have been produced since the company was founded, the ProMinent group of companies now also manufactures process metering pumps for use at very high pressures and temperatures, e.g. B. for use on oil rigs . Complete systems and individual solutions for water treatment and water disinfection, for example in hotels, swimming pools, public drinking water supply and in numerous other branches of industry, are also part of the product range.

ProMinent has been a partner of the Adler Mannheim ice hockey team since 2006 . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, ProMinent provided the technology for the water treatment of the training and competition pools for the sixth time at the Olympic Games.
