Qantir
Qantir ( Arabic قنتير Qantīr ) is a place in Egypt. Qantir is located in the Ash-Sharqiyya governorate and is about 30 km north of Zagazig and about 9 km north of Faqus .
Around the village there is an excavation site, which is part of the ancient Pi-Ramesse , where the capital of Egypt was located under Ramses II . During magnetic prospecting , a large part of the area around Qantir was examined and various districts of the ancient metropolis could be identified underground. The city center with the administration buildings is presumed to be in the area now populated, where no archaeological investigations can be carried out due to the narrow development.
About 2.5 kilometers southwest of the village is the archaeological site of Auaris .
