Queen Elizabeth Land

The Queen Elizabeth Land is an area in the Antarctic , which the British Antarctic Territory belongs. The area was named after Queen Elizabeth II in December 2012 , on the occasion of her 60th jubilee . It covers around 437,000 km², a little less than a third of the territory.

To the northwest extends the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf and the Zumberge Coast , to the northeast the Prinzregent-Luitpold-Land and then the Coatsland , to the east the Dronning Maud Land . To the west, the border is the line connecting the Rutford Ice Current east of Constellation Inlet to the South Pole .
