Sources and research from Italian archives and libraries ( QFIAB for short , more rarely QFiAB or QF ) is a historical journal published by the German Historical Institute in Rome . The first volume appeared in 1898.

Thematically, the articles and mishaps cover the relationship between Germany and Italy and present new research results on Italian history from the early Middle Ages to contemporary history . Topics from German history are taken into account if they rely particularly on Italian sources. The articles are usually published in German or Italian. A short summary ( abstract ) in the other language as well as in English is attached to the individual contributions. The journal volumes also contain the director's annual report as well as reports on meetings of the institute and an extensive review section .

The editing of the volumes is currently with Alexander Koller, Hermann Michael Goldbrunner and Martin Bertram had taken on this task before him . Submitted contributions go through a peer review .

Volumes 1 to 17 (issue 1) were published by Loescher in Rome, after which the company moved to the Regenberg publishing house, which is also based in Rome. Volumes 17 (issue 2) to 33 appeared there. Since volume 34, the first volume that could be published after the institute was able to resume operations in 1953, the journal has been published by Max Niemeyer Verlag in Tübingen , but in Italy it was initially delivered by Regenberg . In 2006 Max Niemeyer Verlag was taken over by Verlag De Gruyter , so that the magazine has since become part of De Gruyter's publishing program.
