geography

The Röthelmoosalm is an alpine pasture area in the Chiemgau Alps north of the Weitsee at an altitude of around 880  m above sea level. NN up to 940  m above sea level NN . The Röthelmoosalm can only be reached on foot. Paths lead from Weitsee, Oberwössen and the Ruhpolding district of Urschlau to the Alm. The Alm is framed by Hochgern and Hochfelln in the north, the Sulzgrabenkopf in the east and the Hörndlwand in the southeast.

The Röthelmoosalm is divided into the front Röthelmoosalm (also Vorderröthelmoosalm ) in the west and the rear Röthelmoosalm (also: Hinterröthelmoosalm ) in the east. The Langerbaueralm forms the front, the Dandlalm the rear Röthelmoosalm.

The Röthelmoosalm area is a registered geotope as Röthelmoos . It is located in the much larger nature conservation , bird protection and FFH area "Eastern Chiemgau Alps".

Others

The alpine pasture is still used for agriculture, Dandl and Langerbaueralm are served.

The Röthelmoosklause is located at the northern end of the alpine pasture . The Klause is fed by the Röthelmoosbach, which rises in the south and flows through the alpine pastures. The water of Röthelmoosbaches was dammed at the hermitage in order wood to the valley pastures , which in Saline in Traunstein was needed as construction and especially as firewood.
