Rüdiger Uentz (born January 31, 1957 ) is a former German soccer player. Between 1975 and 1984 he played for various teams in the second-rate GDR league .

Athletic career

The son of the former GDR Oberliga player Meinhard Uentz , Rüdiger Uentz, was accepted into the youth department of TSC Berlin (from 1966 1. FC Union Berlin ) at the age of eight . 1975 Rüdiger Uentz was part of the squad of the GDR junior national team , for which he played two international matches as a substitute. The 18-year-old Uentz played his first game for the GDR league team of 1. FC Union on April 5, 1975 in the SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde - Union encounter . In the 1: 2 defeat, he played 59 minutes in central midfield. He also got two short-term assignments in the following two league games. As a season winner Union qualified for the league promotion round. In the eight promotion games Uentz was called up four times, but his team missed promotion. In the 1975/76 season, Uentz was a midfielder in the regular line-up and already had its climax on the 3rd matchday of the GDR League when he contributed four goals in the Union - Stahl Finow encounter in a 6-1 victory. On the 10th matchday he was injured so badly that he could not be used again until the end of the season and only played 13 of the 22 league games. Union again reached the league promotion round, which this time - without Uentz - was successfully completed. For the major league season 1976/77 Uentz was nominated for the junior league . There he was only able to play the first four point games because he was then out due to injury for the rest of the season.

From the 1977/78 season on, Rüdiger Uentz played for the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Neubrandenburg . In their GDR league team, Uentz only made two or one use in the first two seasons. 1979/80 Uentz captured a regular place in the league team. He played 16 of the 22 point games as a center forward and was ASG's top scorer with eight goals. In the first half of the 1980/81 season, he played all eight league games in which he scored seven goals until his discharge from the army in October 1980.

Uentz returned to East Berlin in November 1980 and joined the GDR league team of the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Kabelwerk Oberspree Berlin , where he immediately became a regular, played twelve of the remaining 14 league games and continued to score nine more goals as a center forward scored. After he played 15 point games for KWO in 1981/82 and scored six times as a goal scorer, he moved to league rivals BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf at the end of the season .

With the Randberlinern he immediately introduced himself as a record scorer by scoring twelve times in 18 league games in 1982/83. 1983/84 he could only be used in six GDR league games in which he scored two goals. The steelworkers finished ninth in their league season at the end of the season. Since the GDR league was then shortened to two seasons, it was not enough for relegation and Stahl Hennigsdorf had to relegate to the third-class district league. Uentz left the team and then played with BSG Chemie Velten . Although he was only 27 at the time, he never returned to higher-class football. He had played 97 GDR league games and scored 51 goals there over nine seasons.
