RAC Tourist Trophy 1963
The 28th RAC Tourist Trophy , also News of The World sponsors the 28th RAC Tourist Trophy Race, Goodwood . took place on August 24, 1963 on the Goodwood race track and was the 16th round of the World Sports Car Championship of that year.
The race
The 1962 RAC Tourist Trophy also took place on the Goodwood circuit. GT vehicles in three racing classes were eligible to start on the 3.862-kilometer race track . The race distance was 500 kilometers, which corresponded to a race distance of almost three hours. The practice was dominated by the two Maranello Concessionaires - Ferrari 250 GTOs , which were driven by Graham Hill and Mike Parkes . Hill drove the fastest training lap with a time of 1: 27,000 minutes and was four tenths of a second faster than Parkes. The two Ferrari drivers were also safe in the race and fought a tough duel until the end of the race, which Hill won again with a narrow lead of just four tenths of a second.
