The RP Eisenbahn GmbH (RPE) is a 1998 established infrastructure and rail transport companies . The company is based in Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse .
history
RP Eisenbahn GmbH was founded in April 1998 by two private shareholders. The company's activities began in 1999 with the recommissioning of disused railway lines in the Hunsrück and the Palatinate .
In 2000, the approximately 31 km long Freiberg – Holzhau line in Saxony was leased by Deutsche Bahn AG and completely renovated during a 6-month line closure. While Deutsche Bahn previously only used a train every two hours in each direction and required a journey time of more than 60 minutes, the modernization has reduced the journey time to 40 minutes, so that subsequently the same number of vehicles and without additional personnel can be used by rail is offered every hour . Instead of DM 54 million, as assumed by the DB, the modernization was achieved with DM 15 million.
In spring 2001, RP Eisenbahn GmbH and the Chemnitzer Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft (CVAG) founded Regio Infra Service Sachsen GmbH .
