Rachael Atlanta Stirling (born May 30, 1977 in London ) is a British actress .

life and career

Rachael Atlanta Stirling was born to actress Diana Rigg and the Scottish landowner Archibald Hugh Stirling. Rachael Stirling grew up in London and Scotland . She studied art history at the University of Edinburgh and made her stage debut in 1997 as an actress in Shakespeare's drama Othello . In 1998 she made her first film, the hit comedy Still Crazy, about the comeback of a once famous rock band . In 2002, she received much attention in the BBC - miniseries Tipping the Velvet , one in Victorian settled lesbian drama .

In the summer of 2005 she played Miranda Lionheart in Theater des Horens at the Royal National Theater in London . Her mother Diana Rigg played the same role in 1973 as Edwina Lionheart in the film of the same name. Rachael Stirling is currently starring as Lady Chiltern in Oscar Wilde's comedy An Ideal Husband at London's Vaudeville Theater .

In 2013, Stirling first appeared alongside her mother in the British cult series Doctor Who in an episode written by Mark Gatiss . Both also play mother and daughter.

Personal

In 2016 Stirling married the musician Guy Garvey . Stirling lives in London. She is considered an excellent rider and speaks fluent Russian. Her father's first marriage has two half-brothers with whom she has close contact.
