Radio Belarus (formerly Radio Minsk ) is the Belarusian foreign radio broadcaster based in Minsk .

history

Radio Belarus began broadcasting radio programs on May 11, 1962 as Radio Minsk . At first it was only broadcast in Belarusian for Belarusians outside the Soviet Union .

Since 1985 there has also been a German-language program. Programs in Russian and English have been available since 1998, and in Polish since 2006.

The transmission range is currently 16 hours per day in terrestrial broadcasting and 10 hours via the Internet .

Radio Belarus is now an organizational unit of Belaruskaya Tele-Radio Campanija .

Frequencies

Radio Belarus broadcast a. a. via the medium wave transmitter on 1008, 1026 and 1125 kHz. FM transmitter operates Radio Belarus in Brest (96.4 MHz), Hrodna (96.9 MHz), Swislatsch (100.8 MHz), Heranjony (99.9 MHz), Braslau (106.6 MHz) and Mjadsel (102 , 0 MHz).

Since the beginning of February 2012, the broadcasts of Radio Belarus on medium wave and short wave have been severely restricted, in April 2016 the broadcasts on short and medium wave ended completely. The broadcasts of domestic programs on short, medium and long wave also ended. The wire network was partially shut down in 2012 . Instead, broadcasts were introduced via satellite.
