Radio Funkwerk was a community radio for Erfurt and Weimar and has been on air since 1999 . The citizen broadcaster offered an extensive training and event program as well as project weeks for schools and other institutions. Radio Funkwerk was an open channel sponsored by the Thuringian State Media Authority.

reception

Radio Funkwerk could be received terrestrially in Erfurt on the frequency 96.2 MHz and in Weimar on 106.6 MHz. Radio Funkwerk broadcast on cable at 107.90 MHz (Erfurt and Weimar) and 90.35 MHz (Erfurt only). Radio Funkwerk shared the frequencies in Erfurt with Radio FREI and in Weimar with Radio Lotte . These were the two Thuringian non-commercial local radio stations (NKL), which, according to the state media law, were allowed to exist where an open channel is present.

With the amendment of the Thuringian State Media Act, broadcasting was discontinued on May 31, 2015. Radio FREI and Radio LOTTE can be received on the VHF frequencies in Erfurt and Weimar, which, in their new role as citizens' broadcaster, in addition to their editorial program, provide 2 daily open broadcast hours for interested citizens as low-threshold access.

Some broadcasts from Radio Funkwerk and their editors can now be heard in the programs of FREI and LOTTE.
