Radio Stadtfilter is an alternative radio broadcaster from Winterthur , which is allowed to broadcast its program for Winterthur on a frequency of 96.3 MHz and has been on the air 24 hours a day since March 7, 2009 with a fixed license. Stadtfilter is a member of UNIKOM , the association of non-commercial radios in Switzerland. Since August 31, 2014, Radio Stadtfilter has also been broadcast on DAB in the greater Zurich, Aarau and Winterthur areas.
history
In 2005 and 2006, Radio Stadtfilter went on air for one month in November / December. Thereupon the "Verein 2. Frequency Winterthur", which was close to the radio, requested a second festival license for Winterthur from OFCOM , as already exists in other cities such as Schaffhausen or St. Gallen. Stadtfilter was the only applicant to be awarded this license on July 7, 2008 and, according to the license, can therefore start broadcasting permanently from January 2009. The station finally started regular broadcasting on March 7th at midnight with the Ramones song “Rock'n'Roll Radio” . The radio station's studio is located in the Volkart House near the main train station.
Listeners
In the second half of 2009, according to “Publica Data AG”, an average of 38,700 people listened to radio Stadtfilter per day, with 170,000 residents in the reception area. That is the equivalent of every 4.39 person.

Stadtfilter regularly broadcasts the following formats.
- The ball is broadcast - live broadcasts of all home and away games of FC Winterthur
- Weltempfänger - radio in foreign languages (Mon. – Fri. 5 pm – 6 pm)
- Politur - information broadcast about local events (Mon. – Fri. 6 pm–7pm)
- various magazines (Monday to Friday 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
- Talk (Sat. 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
- Synapse radio knowledge, time issues, digital (Tues. 7–8 p.m.)
- Digital is part of the Synapsenfunk magazine
- Radio Gwunder - children's program (Sun. 9.30 a.m. - 10 a.m.)
- Artist of the month or radio play (Sun. 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.)

Stadtfilter broadcasts a lot of cultural and local programs that are firmly anchored in the concept of radio. B. reserved an hour for a foreign language during the week. The radio broadcasts mostly alternative music from all genres (partly also live from concerts as part of the club filter on Saturday evening), whereby in the evening the focus is on a specific genre. What is less important, however, is mainstream music. B. deliberately avoided heavy rotation of chart music. The radio describes itself as politically "clearly left of the center".
About individual programs
Nerdfunk (originally digital)
Versatile, weekly magazine about digital technology. In the program, developments are discussed, new software presented and many social topics related to computer science are discussed - from women in computer science to digital photography . Every month (last broadcast of the month) there is Kummerbox-Live, a live broadcast that sheds light on questions in the context of IT. With Nerdfunk.ch, this broadcast has its own homepage, on which the podcast can also be subscribed to.
