Rahel Kopp (born March 18, 1994 ) is a Swiss ski racer . She has been a member of the Swiss-Ski national team since the 2019/20 season . She specializes in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Kopp graduated from the ski school in Davos . At the age of 15, she took part in FIS races from January 2010 . In December of the same year the first appearances in the European Cup followed . In 2011 she took part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Liberec and finished fourth in both slalom and giant slalom. After some good results in the European Cup and in FIS races, especially in slalom, she was accepted into the Swiss C-squad. In the winter of 2011/12 she was only able to contest a few races due to a knee injury.

Due to good racing and training results before the 2013 World Cup in Schladming , Kopp was surprisingly re-nominated for the team competition, although she had never competed in a World Cup race before. The team finally failed in the round of 16 against Canada. At the Junior World Championship in 2013 she won the silver medal in the team competition. She took her first World Cup points on December 29, 2014 with 26th place in the Kühtai slalom . In March 2015 she won the gold medal in the combined and the bronze medal in the Super-G at the Junior World Championships in Hafjell .

In the 2015/16 season, Kopp was increasingly used in the World Cup, where she particularly excelled in combination races. On February 28, 2016, she caused a surprise in Soldeu when she advanced to the top of the world in this discipline and took fifth place. In the following three years, Kopp was only able to get into the points sporadically in the World Cup. She could neither qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics nor for the 2017 and 2019 World Championships. All the more surprising was her fourth place in the combination of Crans-Montana on February 24, 2019, which was her best ever World Cup result.
