Rainer Boldt

Rainer Boldt (born November 21, 1946 in Rendsburg , Schleswig-Holstein ; † July 12, 2017 in Borgsdorf near Berlin ) was a German director and screenwriter .

life and work

Boldt grew up in Hohenlockstedt (Schleswig-Holstein). He made his first films as a schoolboy. He founded a film company at the Kaiser-Karl-Schule in Itzehoe and took part in national and international student film competitions. After graduating from high school in 1966, he continued to make films, now in 16 mm format, including some medical operation and teaching films on behalf of what was then Itzehoer Krankenhaus am Langen Peter.

In 1968 he was accepted as a student at the newly founded German Film and Television Academy in Berlin .

During his studies he made two films that should be highlighted: “Art Prize 69” (1969) about the tumultuous award of the Berlin Art Prize - Jubilee Foundation 1968/69 and “Ach Viola” (1971).

After completing his studies, numerous TV feature film productions followed, including “Two Days for Life” ( NDR 1973), “The 7-day week of the wire weaver Piechotta” (NDR 1973), “Die Wahl” ( ZDF 1976), as co- Author of the crime scene episode " Mordgedanken " (NDR 1975), " Imzeichen des Kreuzes " ( WDF 1983) and " Das Rätsel der Sandbank " ( ARD 1984/85).

His film “In the Sign of the Cross” about an accident during a nuclear transport caused a sensation nationwide, was removed from the ARD program and shown in the third programs (except Bavaria ) with subsequent discussion.

Rainer Boldt became known as the director and (co-) screenwriter of the TV series “ Neues aus Uhlenbusch ” (ZDF 1977–1982) and “ Not from Bad Parents ” (ARD 1992–1996). For the latter, he received the Telestar and the Bambi film and media prize as the series' inventor and director .
