from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainer Patschinski (born August 28, 1950 in Rostock , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a former German ice hockey player who went on the ice for ten years at SC Dynamo Berlin in the GDR league and for the GDR national team . He is also a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Germany .

Career

player

Patschinski started with Dietmar Peters in his hometown Rostock with the ice hockey at the then resident SG Dynamo Rostock . He played in the youth team until 1961 before his family moved to Berlin . Under his father - who coached SC Einheit Berlin - he went through all of the club's junior teams and finally came to his first assignment at the successor TSC Berlin in the GDR league. There the striker was able to celebrate the runner-up in 1970. With the restructuring of ice hockey in the GDR, in which only Berlin and Weißwasser were to be played, he switched to SC Dynamo Berlin , for which he played until 1980 and won five championships . For the Spreestädter he was on the ice in 86 games and scored 47 goals.

In the summer of 1999, ice hockey was revived in Halle / Saale with the establishment of ESC Saaleteufel Halle . Together with his old Berlin companions Dietmar Peters , Harald Kuhnke , Wolfgang Plotka and Thomas Graul, Rainer Patschinski played a major role in the development of sport in Halle. In the 1999/2000 season Patschinski was top scorer of the ESC with 84 points (25 goals / 59 assists) in only 13 games with a clear gap ahead of Graul and Kuhnke.

International

Patschinski made his debut in the national team in 1968. He completed a total of 238 games in the jersey of the GDR and scored 119 goals.

After the career

Despite his early retirement at the age of 30, Patschinski kept fit with the “old men” and trained there sporadically. Going into a coaching career was never an option for the Rostock-born man, as he made up his high school diploma while still active and graduated in 1983 with a degree in economics from the University of Economics . However, he was drawn back to active ice hockey again and again and due to his good physical condition, he completed a few more games for Dynamo Klingenthal in the so-called “best determination” . After the political change , he was also given the honor of becoming a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Germany .

Others

Rainer Patschinski's son -  Nico Patschinski  - is also active in sports and played in the 2nd Bundesliga for years .
