Rakiatou Christelle Kaffa-Jackou (* 1965 ) is a Nigerien aviation expert and politician . She has been a minister in the Niger government since 2013.

Life

Rakiatou Kaffa-Jackou is the eldest child of the politician Sanoussi Jackou and his wife Françoise. She has four sisters. Kaffa-Jackou is married to Hamadou Kaffa. The couple have five sons. She attended the girls' elementary school of the Catholic Mission in Niamey and a middle school in the same city, as well as the Lycée Kassaï and the Lycée Issa Korombé , where she passed the matriculation examination. She then studied mathematics and physics at Niamey University and took a Maîtrise in mathematics. This was followed by training in aviation research at the Ecole Africaine de la Météorologie et de l'Aviation Civile (EAMAC) in Niamey. Kaffa-Jackou received an engineering diploma with a thesis on the problems of airlines in the Sahel countries and also earned a Diplôme d'études supérieures spécialisées with a thesis on the establishment of an airline in Niger.

After graduating, she first taught mathematics at the Lycée Issa Korombé , then moved to the administration of Niamey Airport and finally taught at EAMAC for nine years. Kaffa-Jackou was involved in several state commissions, for example in the election commission for the parliamentary elections in Niger in 1993 and from 2005 as a member of the preparatory committee of the Salon International de l'Artisanat pour la Femme . She also took over the chairmanship of the human rights organization ADALCI . In 2010, Kaffa-Jackou published a dissertation on airport security at the University of Toulouse and in the same year accepted a position at CEDEAO in Abuja , where she was responsible for civil aviation security in the CEDEAO member states.

As a member of the Nigerien Self-Government Party (PNA-Al'ouma), of which her father is the party leader, she was appointed Minister Deputy Minister for Industrial Development by President Mahamadou Issoufou on August 13, 2013 . On April 20, 2015, she changed portfolios and became Minister Associate for African Integration. In the government of April 11, 2016, she became Minister for Population.
