Route of the Dakar Rally 2013

The 2013 Dakar Rally was the 35th edition of the Dakar Rally and the 34th that actually took place. It took place for the fifth time in South America .

The rally started on January 5, 2013 in Lima ( Peru ) and ended on January 19 in Santiago ( Chile ) after 14 stages and over 8500 kilometers.

A total of 449 vehicles took part, including 183 motorcycles, 38 quads, 153 cars and 75 trucks.

Incidents

On January 10, 2013, two people died and seven others were seriously injured when a rally service vehicle collided with two taxis. French motorcyclist Thomas Bourgin died on January 11, 2013 in a collision with a police car.
