Ralph Deleon Guerrero Torres (born August 6, 1979 in Saipan ) is an American politician . Torres has been Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands since December 28, 2015 .

Life

Ralph Torres grew up in Boise , Idaho , where he first graduated from high school in 1996 . He then enrolled at Boise State University , where he graduated in Political Science in 2001 . From 2004 to 2008, he and his brother ran a law firm in Saipan.

His political career began Torres in January 2008, when he for the Republican Party in the Senate moved in the Mariana Islands. He worked in this role for seven years until January 2015. Governor Eloy Inos named Torres lieutenant governor of the US foreign territory in January 2015 . When Inos died in late December of the same year, Torres was sworn in as his successor.

On November 8, 2019, FBI investigators flown in from Hawaii searched Ralph Torres' office and his private rooms. The search lasted several hours. The investigators did not comment on details and backgrounds. Local media speculated that Torres was being investigated in connection with allegations of corruption.

Ralph Torres is married with four children and five grandchildren.
