Ranilug ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ранилуг , Albanian Ranillug or Ranillugu ) is a place in eastern Kosovo and the official seat of the municipality of the same name .
history
In the 12th century, the region belonged to the kingdom of the Serbian Prince Stefan Nemanja for a time . From the beginning of the 13th century, the area around Ranilug belonged permanently to the Serbian state of the Nemanjids . After the collapse of the Serbian Empire , different Serbian princes or partial princes ruled the region, including Uglješa, who ruled under the suzerainty of Stefan Lazarević at the beginning of the 15th century . After Uglješa's death, the region fell under the direct rule of Lazarević's successor, Đurađ Branković . In the middle of the 15th century the region was conquered by the Ottomans. In 1912 it belonged again to Serbia , which was later a republic of Yugoslavia until 2003 . Between 2003 and 2006 Ranilug belonged to Serbia and Montenegro . Since 2008 it belongs to the Republic of Kosovo.
