Raphaël Ibañez (born February 17, 1973 in Saugnac-et-Cambran , Landes ) is a no longer active French rugby union player who was used in the position of the hooker . He was active for the French national team and the English Guinness Premiership team London Wasps . He was one of the most famous players of his sport in France . Raphaël Ibañez is 1.78 m tall and last weighed 102 kg.

Ibañez made his debut for the French national team against Wales in Cardiff on March 16, 1996 . In 1998 he became the captain of the French national team. He took part in the World Championships in 1999 , 2003 and 2007 , with France reaching the final in 1999 and otherwise being eliminated in the semifinals.

Raphaël Ibañez also took part in two Five Nations tournaments ( 1998 , 1999 ) and six Six Nations tournaments ( 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2006 , 2007 ) for France.

On February 17, 2009, Raphaël Ibañez ended his active career at the age of 36.
