A screen tone is a thin, mostly self-adhesive film with a specific grid. With it, shades can be inserted into a graphic through closely spaced colored dots. These effects can be achieved on the computer with layers in image processing programs. Raster films are very popular with mangakas .

In the past, halftone films were often used in areas of graphics. Nowadays you mostly see it in comics , mangas or pop art pictures .
