The town hall of Spittal an der Drau is located on Burgplatz opposite Porcia Castle .

description

The former Vicedom building was the administrative building of the county of Ortenburg and the seat of the district judge. The Renaissance building is marked on a plaque with the coat of arms of Khevenhüller-Manstorff on the facade with 1537. The coat of arms of Salamanca-Eberstein-Baden is at the main portal. The town hall is a three-storey building around a courtyard and was probably built by the same master builder as Porcia Castle. The four-axis facade is bordered by a tower at the western corner. The portal with pilasters in relief and cranked entablature is related to the main portal of the castle, the bi-directional windows resemble those of the north facade of the castle. The pillar arcades on the ground floor of the courtyard and the pillar arcades on the two upper floors were originally open. The prison of the old district court was housed in the rear wing .

The wall paintings from around 1600 in a room on the second floor with depictions of a peasant woman and a farmer, a naked man with an eagle and a clad eagle in tendrils are intended to symbolize the transfer of minor rights.
