Rauwacke (not to be confused with greywacke ) is a rock that originally contained gypsum or anhydrite in addition to dolomite or calcite . During the chemical weathering of the Rauwacke, the gypsum is quickly dissolved and removed with the seepage water. A holey, porous rock remains.
