As Rough comb is Ostgrat -Aufstieg of Ötscher referred to in Lower Austria. The entry of the uninsured climb with a difficulty I according to the UIAA scale is at an altitude of 1533 meters. Access is mostly from the north via the Bärenlacke (948 m); Another access is the south-facing one over the Ötschergraben (“Beim Jägerherz”; 918 m). The exit is about 600 meters east of the summit cross (1893 m) at an altitude of about 1840 meters.

The first rock steps are bypassed on the north flank, then left over steep debris and crags up to the crest height. After a ridge rise down into a notch and along the ridge (ridge) with short upswings, which are usually mastered on the south side. The exit takes place at the pre-summit (around 1840 m), whereby the steep southern flank with narrow strips of grass and rock steps in the wall must first be overcome (surefootedness and a head for heights required).

Accesses

  • North side: From the Bärenlacken (948 m) on the red marked path through steep forest and mountain pine zone to the start.
  • West side: By car from Lackenhof (809 m) around two kilometers east to Raneck (954 m) and on to Nestelbergsäge (759 m), from there ascent to Bärenlacken (948 m). Alternatively, by car only to Raneck and over the forest road to Bärenlacken.
  • East side: By car to Trübenbach (Sommerer; 521 m) and along a marked forest path up to Bärenlacken.
  • South: From the Ötscherbach via “Beim Jägerherz” (918 m) to the start.
