Realistic trash polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Realistic Trash Polka is a tattoo style performed by the two tattoo artists and musicians Simone Pfaff and Volker Merschky in Würzburg .

history

The tattoo style was gradually developed by the two tattooists since 1998 in their Buena Vista Tattoo Club and called “Realistic Trash Polka”. It is considered to be "highly innovative and technically perfect". The style largely dispenses with classic tattoo motifs and modes of representation. Atypical motifs are used for the tattoo scene and combined with styles that are partly based on painting . The Realistic Trash Polka style is now internationally known and is already being copied and imitated by other tattoo artists.

technology

Characteristic of the Realistic Trash Polka style are tattoos, which represent a combination of naturalistic or photo-realistic motifs with graphic elements. Photo-realistic portraits in a detailed representation are shown in connection with simple graphic elements such as large black areas, brush strokes or abstract shapes. The tattoos are often black, gray and red, although other colors are also used. However, the use of color contrasts known in art is often used, such as a complementary contrast , in order to create a special optical effect.

Music project Dobbs Dead

Dobbs Dead is the music project of the two artists. Their music , which combines American folk and country music with European influences and is characterized by a dark, deep melancholy, is what they call " post mortem folk".

On their debut album Birth , which the two were able to complete on their own in autumn 2010, there are 11 songs, which are exclusively their own compositions.

With their music project they also regularly perform live with a changing line-up. For these performances, all of the songs were rearranged by Volker Merschky. Strings have been replaced by slide guitar and ukulele . Simone Pfaff (pump organ / vocals) and Volker Merschky (guitar / vocals / harp / drums ) are supported in their performances by Dieter Engelhardt (slide electric guitar / ukulele) and Tommi Neubauer ( bass ).
