Reba Monness

Reba Monness - b. as Reba Kirson (born February 3, 1911 , † May 10, 1980 in New York City ) was an American table tennis player . At the 1947 World Cup , she won silver in doubles.

Career

In the 1940s Reba Monness was temporarily president of the New York table tennis association NYTTA (New York Table Tennis Association).

She was nominated for the World Championships in Paris in 1947 . Here she lost to the Austrian Trude Pritzi in the individual in the second round . In doubles with Mae Clouther she achieved after Siegen u. a. against Marie Kettnerová / Květa Hrušková (CSSR) and Mary Detournay / Josee Wouters (Belgium) the final, which they lost against the Austro-Hungarian couple Gizella Farkas Trude Pritzi . In mixed with the Hungarian Ferenc Sidó , she advanced two rounds.

In 1950 she won the US National Championship. In the same year she was ranked ninth in the ITTF world rankings . In 1981 Reba Monness was inducted into the USATT Hall of Fame.

In addition to table tennis, she also played tennis, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey and hockey.

Reba Monness was married to Abbot R. Monness.
