Regina Kopp-Herr (* 17th August 1957 in Oberhausen as Regina Kopp ) is a German politician ( SPD) . Since November 2009 she has been the district mayor of Bielefeld-Brackwede. She was elected for the first time on May 9, 2010 in constituency 93 - Bielefeld II for the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life

job

After completing secondary school in 1973, Regina Kopp-Herr initially trained as a doctor's assistant between 1973 and 1975. In 1975 she took up further training as a medical-technical assistant specializing in the laboratory, which she completed in 1977. Until the birth of her first child, she worked as an MTLA (medical-technical laboratory assistant). Since 1998 she has been working as a pedagogical specialist (care for marginal hours, open all-day primary school) and was most recently a project manager at the Falken in Bielefeld. When she took up her mandate in the state parliament, she stopped practicing her profession.

Politics and engagement

Regina Kopp-Herr has been a member of the SPD since 1992, a member of the Brackwede district council since 2004 and, as a competent citizen, was a member of the youth welfare committee of the city of Bielefeld until 2009. In November 2009, Regina Kopp-Herr was elected first district head by the Bielefeld-Brackwede district council. From October 2009 to December 2010 she was a member of the Bielefeld Council and here in the committees on the environment and climate protection, youth welfare committee, migration council (deputy advisory board member), partnership commission (advisory member). Between 1994 and 2009 she was a member of the school attendants and school conferences of numerous schools in Bielefeld that were also attended by her children. In addition, she has been chairwoman of the support association of the Brackwede Comprehensive School since 2001, has been on the prison advisory board of the Bielefeld-Brackwede I prison since 2006 and has been on the supervisory board of the non-profit building cooperative Bielefeld-Brackwede since 2009 (there as the first and only woman in its 85 years of existence). She was an assessor from 2008 to 2012 and deputy from 2012 to 2014. Chairwoman of the state board of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (AsF) and 2011 to 2014 board member of the AsF sub-district of Bielefeld. Since March 2014 she is deputy. Chairwoman of the executive board of the SPD sub-district Bielefeld. Her political priorities are children, youth, education, women and the family. Kopp-Herr has been a member of the pro Familia advisory board in the Bielefeld local association since 2014 .

Member of the state parliament

In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010, Kopp-Herr was elected directly for the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time in constituency 93 - Bielefeld II. She was able to win back the direct mandate in the constituency from long-time MdL Rainer Lux (CDU) for the SPD and hold it in the early elections in 2012. In the state parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Family, Children and Youth and the Committee on Women, Equality and Emancipation, in which she has been the spokeswoman for her parliamentary group since 2016. Until the beginning of 2017 she was a member of the study commission "Future of Family Policy in North Rhine-Westphalia". In the state elections in May 2017, she was able to defend the direct mandate in the constituency again and was elected deputy SPD parliamentary group leader in the new parliamentary term.

Private

Regina Kopp-Herr is married and has four children.
