Deer ( Chinese  熱河 省  /  热河 省 , Pinyin Rèhé shěng , abbreviation: , ) or Jehol (after the old name of the provincial capital Chengde ) was the name of a former province in northern China north of the Great Wall at the time of the Empire or the nationalist republic.

Jehol and the neighboring province of Chahar were conquered by the Japanese in 1933. Although Jehol Province did not actually belong to Manchuria , it was added to Japan's satellite state Manchukuo against impotent Chinese protests until 1945 .

Within the People's Republic of China, the province was dissolved in 1955: the districts of Chifeng and Tongliao fell to the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia , the district of Chengde (including the former provincial capital Jehol) fell to the province of Hebei , and the rest came to the province of Liaoning .
