Reinhard E. Ketterer

Reinhard E. Ketterer (born May 31, 1948 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is Vice President of the German Ice Skating Union , a former German figure skater and coach in this sport to this day.

Reinhard E. Ketterer began figure skating at SC Riessersee in 1956 after the World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . His first trainer was Sepp Schönmetzler Senior, the father of the multiple German champion and internationally successful figure skater and later biomechanic, Sepp Schönmetzler . He later trained with Erich Zeller . Under his care, Reinhard E. Ketterer became German men's champion in 1969 . Through Almut Lehmann , he started pair skating in 1968 . With her he became German junior pair skating champion in 1969. He won the title of German junior pair skating champion in 1971 together with Claudia Zander from Krefeld. A year later he won the bronze medal at the German Championships with his new partner, Gabriele Cieplik from Berlin. In the same year he ended his amateur career because he concentrated on his professional training. In the following years he appeared in over 600 shows.

From 1972 to 1973 Reinhard E. Ketterer trained as a freelance sports teacher at the German Sport University in Cologne . 1974 to 1978 he obtained the general higher education entrance qualification at the Gymnasium and Kolleg Sankt Matthias in Wolfratshausen . From 1979 to 1984 he studied to become a teacher (sport and German) at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1985 to 1988 he completed a distance learning course at the Cologne Trainer Academy .

In addition to his studies, Reinhard E. Ketterer was head coach of figure skating at SC Riessersee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 1978 to 1992. He is also an honorary member of the association. From 1982 to 1991 he was also a trainer for courses of the Norwegian national team and at the same time in the teaching team of the Norwegian trainer education.

Until his statutory retirement, he was head trainer and federal base manager in Berlin for 22 years. Since 2013 he has been the 2nd chairman of the Berlin Ice Sports Association. In 2017, he put the training and further education of C-trainers in Berlin into younger hands.

He continues to teach as a private trainer in courses and training seminars in Germany and Austria. In both countries he has been involved in the training of trainers for many years.

In 2007 he appeared as a member of the jury on the RTL television show Dancing on Ice.

In 2015 he got a role in Alexandra Sell's film “ The Beginner ” with Ulrike Krumbiegel and Annekathrin Bürger .

On June 30, 2018, Reinhard E. Ketterer was elected Vice President of the German Ice Skating Union.

Reinhard E. Ketterer lives in Lichterfelde-West in Berlin and in his Bavarian homeland.
