Reinhard Pohanka

Reinhard Pohanka (* 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian archaeologist and non-fiction author.

He first studied medicine, psychology and ethnology, from 1975 classical archeology and ancient history at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1981. Afterwards he was involved in research projects in Iran for the Austrian Academy of Sciences . In 1984 he became curator for medieval history and archeology at the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna , where he was involved in various exhibitions. As a specialist book author, he mainly writes works on historical and cultural-historical topics, some works deal with the history of the city of Vienna. In retirement, he currently lives as a freelance author in Mödling near Vienna.
