Reinhold Häussermann

Reinhold Häussermann (born February 10, 1884 in Stuttgart , † April 4, 1947 in Vienna ) was a German - Austrian theater and film actor .

Life

Reinhold Häussermann began his career in the theater at the age of 18. In 1902 he was on the theater stage in Ulm for the first time, before a year later, in 1903, he got an engagement at a theater in Mulhouse in what was then the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . In the years to come, Häussermann worked on numerous German theaters, including Krefeld , Erfurt and Hanover . From 1912 to 1914 he was on stage at the Berlin Lustspielhaus . With the support of the Austrian actor Hugo Thimig , Häussermann got a job at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1915 .

In addition to his work at the theater, Häussermann also became interesting for directors of the new film medium. In 1919 he stood in front of the camera in the comedy His Serene Highness the Tramp alongside the later Oscar winner Joseph Schildkraut . In 1924 he was in The Sklavenkönigin of Michael Curtiz to see. Until 1940 he worked in this way in 21, mostly Austrian productions; his last appearance in front of the camera was The Postmaster at the side of Heinrich George .

In 1947, shortly before his death, at the age of 63, he was raised to the rank of chamber actor .

His son was the actor Ernst Haeusserman , his daughter-in-law the actress Susi Nicoletti .

In 1977 the Haeussermannweg in Vienna- Landstrasse (3rd district) was named after him and his son Ernst Haeusserman.
