action

After a long time, John Mason visits his father 'Dad Mason', who runs the office of an express courier service in a small town. No sooner has John arrived than he gets involved in a fight with Ben McClure, with whom he immediately befriends. Together they go to the express office, which is currently being attacked. When Mason's father takes out a pistol , he is shot through the window by a masked robber. John immediately starts chasing the gang and shoots two of the robbers. But he too is badly wounded. Ben puts him in his house, where he has his adored Alice nurse him back to health.

Nobody suspects that Alice's brother Rudd is the head of the band of robbers. But he hesitates to get John out of the way as an unwelcome witness and potential avenger of his father. Always supplied with information by the saloon owner, the gang carried out further attacks on the express line. One day Rudd reveals himself to be the murderer of Dad Mason: John recognizes the eye-catching scarf that Rudd wore during the attack. With a fake gold transport it, the gang a trap to Rudd in the act to catch. In fact, another attack takes place, in the course of which John can eliminate almost the whole gang.

Only Rudd escapes and rides to his ranch to change horses. John pursues him, but only meets Alice at the ranch. However, he does not want to reveal to her why he is after Rudd. Ben - already deliberately made jealous by Rudd earlier - sees the two from a distance and thinks he is watching a love affair. He turns away from John while Rudd and John face an open confrontation. Because of his jealousy, Ben unnoticed removes the cartridges from John's Colt, who rides them defenselessly to a duel into town. Plagued by his guilty conscience, Ben rides after him and can barely save his life by shooting Rudd. But Ben is also fatally hit and in the end dies in John's arms. The film ends with the marriage of John and Alice.
