Church services are sometimes held there in Korean .

In the north of the city is the Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Church on Wittenberger Weg , to which the house of the church in Herberhausen also belongs. Judaism

Jews lived in Detmold for centuries. The most important part of the Jewish cultural heritage in Detmold was a synagogue on Lortzingstrasse, which was completely destroyed by the Nazis during the Night of the Reichspogrom . Today there is a stone memorial at the site of the synagogue, which is supposed to commemorate the Jews who were murdered and disenfranchised in the night of the pogrom. Nevertheless Jews live in Detmold; they belong to the Jewish community of Herford-Detmold , an amalgamation of the communities of Herford and Detmold. The union had become necessary in 1970 because of the small number of members.

Islam

In the 1970s, an increasing number of migrant workers came to Germany from Turkey and thus also to Detmold, creating the first notable Muslim minority in Detmold. The number of Muslims also increased when numerous Kurdish migrants came to Detmold at the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s, the majority of whom were Sunni-Islamic denominations.

The first organized Islamic community in Detmold was founded in 1996 on the initiative of DİTİB . The Detmold Central Mosque ( Merkez Camii in Turkish ), in which the Friday sermon is held, is located on Lemgoer Straße.

There is also the IGMG mosque of the Islamic community Millî Görüş , located on Industriestraße.

The Islamic Communication Center (IKZ e.V.) is located on Industriestrasse. The association was founded in 1991 as a free and independent association. The original name AMGT e. V. was changed in order to break down prejudices and barriers with a purely German name. Outsiders should already recognize from the name that encounters and dialogue are desirable here. The original intention of only satisfying the religious needs of the Muslims in Detmold was later joined by the need for an integration-promoting association policy. Today the association carries out various integration projects with local cooperation partners. In 2008 the association actively worked on the development of an integration concept for the city of Detmold. Language courses for women, youth work and homework support are further fields of activity of the association.

Buddhism

Since there are numerous students from Asia (especially from Japan ) at the Detmold Music Academy , there are two small Buddhist communities in Detmold . One is a meditation center in the Hiddesen district and the other is a cultural center run by German converts. The center is a member of the German Buddhist Union , half of which consists of German converts .

Other religious communities

There have been regular meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1932 - first in Pivitsheide , later also in Detmold.
