Renate Aichinger

Renate Aichinger (born November 28, 1976 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian writer and theater director.

Life

Renate Aichinger studied theater, film and media studies at the University of Vienna . At the end of the day she wrote her diploma thesis on Robert Musil's reading drama "Die Schwärmer". During her studies, she worked at various small Viennese theaters. This is followed by engagements as a dramaturge and director at various theaters, including the Zurich Young Theater, the Stadttheater Gießen and the Vorarlberger Landestheater . From 2009–2016 she worked at the Junge Burg Wien, where she worked on a piece every year with the TheaterClub Wiener Brut. With the 2016/17 season she took over the division and expanded it into the Open Castle.

2012–2016 she directs the Citizens' Theater at the Lower Austria State Theater . Her staging of Felix Mitterer's commissioned work GLANZSTOFF was awarded the NESTROY Special Prize in 2015.

Aichinger wrote several theater pieces, including the commissioned work “On your place, ready, unemployed” (2009, ARGEkultur). Two of her pieces were nominated for the Retzhofer Dramapreis : "WWW.COM" (2003) and "Rosa Rossi sucht das Tomorrow" (2011). In 2012 her debut book WELT.ALL.TAG was published by edition laurin, in 2014 wunderstill, her first volume of poetry. Endeln # lürix followed in 2016 in the series "Neue Lyrik aus Österreich" published by Berger Verlag.

In 2013 she was a scholarship holder at Villa Decius, Krakow and won the Austrian decision at the European Poetical Tournament with “die”. In 2014 she received the Rauris Literature Prize . In 2015 she was the city clerk in Schwaz.

She is a member of GAV, Literature Vorarlberg and the Austrian Writers' Association

Aichinger lives and works in Vienna.
