Repertory (homeopathy)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In homeopathy, a repertory is a reference work that is extracted from the so-called materia medica , the homeopathic medicine theory, and is intended to help determine a suitable remedy. In a homeopathic repertory, the various symptoms are listed according to homeopathic categories in rubrics with detailed staggered information on areas, accompanying circumstances, conditions and time and all suitable homeopathic remedies, when these symptoms were used, are listed with a so-called homeopathic, depending on their importance Valence from 1–4.

This list is not always identical, depending on the author of the repertory and, due to its complicated structure, requires intensive training by the respective homeopath.

Through a detailed questioning of the patient, the patient's symptoms, including all peculiarities, should be compiled and, by comparison with the corresponding listing in the repertory, precisely that remedy should be found that is recorded in all symptom descriptions. According to homeopathic understanding, special attention should be paid to symptoms that are untypical for the course of the disease and that are concise for the patient; In addition to this so-called repertorisation, the detailed descriptions of remedies in the Materia Medica should be consulted in order to select the remedy that most closely corresponds to the patient's constitution and symptoms.

In addition to printed repertories, repertory software is also used today to make it easier to find symptoms using search functions, among other things.
