Reynaldo Vera González-Quevedo (born January 7, 1961 in Unión de Reyes ) is a Cuban chess master, author and trainer.
Life
Vera learned to play chess in 1970 and already took part in the national youth championship of Cuba in 1975, where he finished third. A year later he finished second after a playoff. In 1979 Vera won the championship and became International Master , in 1988 FIDE finally awarded him the title of Grand Master . In 1997 and 2001 Vera won the national championship of Cuba.
Vera is currently the full-time coach of the Cuban national team. Since 2007 he has held the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.
Team chess
Vera took part in the 1980 , 1984 , 1986 , 1988 , 1990 , 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 2000 and 2002 Chess Olympiads with Cuba , and in 1998 he won the gold medal for the best in Elista for his result of 7 points from 9 games on the third board Individual result was awarded. He also represented Cuba at the World Team Championships in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2001 and won the Pan-American Team Championships in 1987, 1991, 1995 and 2000th
In the Spanish team championship he played for CA Cofimán Mancha Real in 2002 , and in 2009 and 2011 for CCA CajaCanarias Santa Cruz .
