The Rheinische Landesbibliothek Koblenz ( RLB ) is a scientific regional library based in Koblenz ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). It is an institution of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Science, Further Education and Culture.

Established by an organizational decree of the Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs on May 11, 1987 and opened in March 1990, it is a young institution among the regional libraries with a comparatively small stock of books - in 2015 there were around 1.7 million books - and does not have an established historical record Book inventory. There are currently around 10,200 volumes from before 1900 in stock, 90 of them from the 16th century, 160 titles from the 17th century; the rest is from the 18th century. Through antiquarian purchases, an attempt is made to subsequently acquire regional literature on the catchment area of ​​the library, which is the deposit copy library for the former administrative district of Koblenz. As a permanent loan, it keeps parts of the scientific book inventory of the Koblenz City Library , whose valuable old inventory is not affected.

Together with the Palatinate State Library Speyer , the Mainz City Library and the Trier City Library , the Rhenish State Library creates the Rhineland-Palatinate Bibliography , in which all publications are listed that deal with the state of Rhineland-Palatinate or its predecessor territories. In 2013, the database, which can be used free of charge, comprised well over 385,000 references on the country from all fields of knowledge. It also creates the Rhineland-Palatinate personal database, a database with around 10,000 short biographies.

The RLB is the central pedagogical library for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The library strives for a modern internet offer with an online catalog and a pilot project for web archiving (edoweb: Rhineland-Palatinate archive server for electronic documents and websites).

On September 1, 2004 , the RLB with the Palatinate State Library Speyer , the Bibliotheca Bipontina Zweibrücken , the Büchereistelle Koblenz (formerly: Landesbüchereistelle Koblenz) and the Büchereistelle Neustadt (formerly: Staatliche Büchereistelle Rheinhessen-Pfalz Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) became the State Library Center Rhineland-Palatinate merged.
