Richard Bona

Richard Bona (* 28. October 1967 in Minta ) is a Cameroonian jazz - bassist , guitarist and singer.

Career

After a short stay in Germany, Bona went to France, where he played with Manu Dibango , Salif Keita and Didier Lockwood . He also recorded with Joe Zawinul .

In 1995 he moved to New York City , where he worked with musicians such as Larry Coryell , Michael and Randy Brecker , Mike Stern , Steve Gadd , Chick Corea and Pat Metheny . In 2008 he performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Bobby McFerrin . In 2007 he also formed a new group with the musicians Gerald Toto and Lokua Kanza , which performed at the FMM Festival the Musicas do Mundo 2008 in Sines Portugal and recorded an album. In 2019 he was on tour with Alfredo Rodríguez .

Bona teaches bass guitar at New York University .
