Richard Claus

Richard Claus (* 1950 in Kassel , Hesse ) is a German film producer , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Claus studied at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) in 1976 and began working on German TV and cinema films. In his early films he was often active in several functions at the same time, sometimes as a cameraman and film editor .

His first feature film as a director and screenwriter was the feature film Bananen-Paul in 1982 , followed by the docu-drama The Night and its Prize (1983).

In 1986, Claus co-founded Delta Film GmbH, a German production company for feature films. Since then he has mainly concentrated on the production area; from 1993 also as founder of Comet Film GmbH.

After a long break he was active again as a director and screenwriter in 2006, with the film adaptation of Cornelia Funke 's children's book Herr der Diebe .
