Richard Gottinger

Richard Gottinger (born June 4, 1926 in Fürth ; † March 5, 2008 ibid) was a German football player who played exclusively for Fürth teams.

Gottinger started playing football at the age of eleven in the youth department of SpVgg Fürth . Growing out of youth, he initially moved to ASV Fürth at the age of 20 for the period from January 1, 1946 to June 30, 1947.

For the 1947/48 season he returned to SpVgg Fürth and with the first team at the end of the season from the Oberliga Süd to the second-class regional league . After a year of abstinence, after returning to the Oberliga Süd, he was crowned the South German champions with his team .

After he and his team the season 1950-51 in the Oberliga Süd as runner-up finished, he was with his crew as participants in the final round of the German Cup qualifying. He played all six group games , but was eliminated from the competition in third place.

In 1952/53 in the DFB-Pokal competition, he played the preliminary round match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, won 6-1, and the last sixteen game, which he lost 2-5 at Waldhof Mannheim .

National team

He played his only international match for the senior national team on October 11, 1953 in Stuttgart in the qualifying game for the 1954 World Cup , which was won 3-0 against the Saarland national team . He also played two international matches for the B national team . His first on June 14, 1953 in Düsseldorf in a 5-2 victory over Spain, his last on March 23, 1955 in Sheffield in a 1-1 draw against England.

After the end of his active career, Gottinger was active as a coach. He coached, among others, 1. FC Bamberg and SG Quelle Fürth .

In March 2008 Gottinger died in Fürth after a long and serious illness
