Richard Overton

Richard Overton (born before 1963) is an American sound engineer .

Life

Overton began his career in 1963 as assistant sound engineer at the B-Movie - Horror Black Zoo by Robert Gordon . His first work as a sound engineer was the John Wayne - Western The Undefeated from 1969. He was subsequently involved in numerous major Hollywood productions. Between 1989 and 1991 he was nominated three times in a row for an Oscar in the category Best Sound : 1989 for Die Hard , 1990 for Abyss - Abyss of Death and 1991 for Hunt for Red October . However, he couldn't win any of the prizes. Overton only worked occasionally for television; for his first television film , Fireball Forward , he was awarded the Primetime Emmy in 1972. Overton retired from the film business in 1992 but returned again in 2016 for the documentary Building the World's Most Luxurious Cruise Ship .
