Richard Raatzsch

Richard Raatzsch (* 1957 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German philosopher . Since 2008 he has been professor and holder of the chair for practical philosophy at the private EBS University for Economics and Law at Schloss Reichartshausen in Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau (Germany).

biography

Richard Raatzsch studied philosophy and history at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . After receiving his doctorate in philosophy, he taught and researched at the University of Leipzig , first at the Institute for Logic and Philosophy of Science , then at the Institute for Philosophy. In 1999 he received his habilitation in Leipzig with a thesis on Ludwig Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations , which was published in 2003 under the title Actually Strange. Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations. A comment appeared. In 2004 Raatzsch represented the chair for political philosophy and anthropology at the University of Potsdam . He also taught at times at the Universities of Sankt Gallen (Switzerland) and Bergen (Norway). A Heisenberg grant enabled him to do research at Cambridge University (England) from 2006 to 2008 . He is a Life Member of Clare Hall College Cambridge . Raatzsch has published the international periodical Wittgenstein Studies since 1996 .

Main areas of work

Raatzsch focuses on the philosophy of language , the philosophy of mind and the "philosophy of philosophy". He is also interested in action-oriented topics such as ethics and political philosophy .
