Richi Ōwaki

Richi Ōwaki ( Japanese 大 脇 理智 , Ōwaki Richi ; * 1977 in Aichi Prefecture ) is a Japanese video, media and installation artist.

Owaki studied film and media at Tōhoku University . After completing his studies, he took part in the memorandum tour of the artist group Dumb Type , of which he had already belonged as a video engineer during his studies. In 2004 he worked as a video engineer on the exhibition and performance Voyage / Voyages by Dumb Type at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM). In April of that year he became "Mediaturge" at YCAM and as such was responsible for the technical and technological implementation of all exhibitions and performances taking place there. He is also part of the management team at Studio Imaichi .

Owaki also presented his own performances and installations and founded the dance group Chikuha in 2005 . In 2015, he won the Jaguar Asia Tech Art Prize from Jaguar Taiwan and the Taiwan Art Gallery with the video and sound installation Skinslides .
