Riedichen is the easternmost district of the city of Zell im Wiesental in the district of Lörrach .

Location and geography

Riedichen is around three kilometers southeast of Atzenbach and thus on the left side of the Wiesental at an altitude of 668  m . The road from Atzenbach ( district road 6301) leads up in serpentines and then continues on district road 6352 in the direction of Gersbach .

The village of Riedichen was first mentioned in 1439 as "item Heini jn Raidach git 6 dn (Schilling) von Gaisbuel". The village only became independent in 1811. The village was previously called Riedach und Riedacker. The name indicates an earlier clearing .

Riedichen joined the city of Zell on March 1, 1972. Riedichen is a district of Zell and a locality with mayor, local council and local administration. The local council has six members.

The Riedichen coat of arms was adopted in 1902 on the proposal of the General State Archives .

“The Riedich coat of arms shows a red shield with a silver central bar, in the red fields above two and below a gold ring. The colors indicate the former Austrian rulership and the three rings indicate the manorial rule of the barons of Schönau. The coat of arms was adopted by the municipality in 1902. "

There are two associations in Riedichen. In addition to the men's choir , there is the Bergvogtei Riedichen , an association founded on January 11, 1973, which maintains the carnival custom.
