Riethgen is a municipality in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia . It belongs to the administrative community Kindelbrück , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Kindelbrück .

Riethgen is located southeast of Kindelbrück in the Thuringian Basin .
history
The place was first mentioned in the year 786 in the list of goods of the Hersfeld Abbey . The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office Weißensee until 1815 . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna he came to Prussia and in 1816 the district Weissensee in the administrative district of Erfurt the province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th
At the end of 1940, 12 Polish forced laborers were working in Riethgen. In 1942, people abducted from the Ukraine were added. Thus, the number of people involved in forced agricultural labor was 29.
On June 6, 1943, two forced laborers, Semon Kalig (born 1919) and Iwan Loritzki (born 1926), tried to escape. The gendarmerie post in Kindelbrück was alerted and a manhunt started. The fate of the two forced laborers is not known.
Today the area of the former Teutonic Order Commende Griefstedt belongs to Riethgen (history and the demolition of castle and church see Griefstedt ).
